Sponsorship Spotlight
He had a dream that he never gave up on, even when things seemed hard. Gaster Obeth, from a family of eight children, almost had his dreams shattered after his father left the family and his mother while he was still a tender age. His mother, who worked in a fish market, could not earn enough to support all eight of her children.
CHAIN met Gaster at the age of 15, when he had just completed his primary seven, and helped him to find a sponsor. Gaster then joined Kyambogo college school in 2006 resolved to use this golden opportunity where the sky was not even the limit. Gaster is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and is in his second year at Cavendish University in Uganda.
He looks forward to helping the poor and his other siblings who are still struggling. As one of the OVCs and as a way of giving back to the organization, Gaster mentors other OVCs during holiday programs. He helps them learn computer programs, reading and communication skills, amongst others things. Courageous, Gaster attends parents/guardians meetings and urges them not to give up on educating their children.
