About the Program
GOAF provides scholarships to secondary school-age orphans and vulnerable children in Uganda. To be selected, a child must be out of school due to the inability of the child’s caretaker to pay school fees. The child is assigned a sponsor and receives clothing, shoes, school fees and a gift. Once a child is in the program, he/she can attend an enrichment program held three times a year at the Ladd’s Children’s Center when school is on holiday.
This program includes boarding school. These orphans must meet strict criteria which include the following:
1. Were excellent students when they were in school,
2. Be orphaned and out of school when they apply,
3. Agree to significantly help another child sometime in their lifetime,
4. Maintain a scholastic position in the top 10 percent of their class.
The fee to sponsor a child who meets the criteria for secondary boarding school is $750 USD per year.
When considering sponsoring a specific child, please consider that renewal each year is expected unless your circumstances change or the child leaves the program for some reason.
